Subscriber Can Close Out A Thread For Themselves
This option will allow your subscribers to eliminate future emails from a particular thread.
By thread, we mean Replies to a previous email message.
Typically with the same subject line.
Customize Your List / Posting Messages to List
Scroll to the bottom of Posting Message to List options
Turn on the Allow Your Subscribers to Opt Out of Future Emails on Any Given Thread option
You can adjust the message that is displayed above the link to stop this thread
A new link will start appearing at the very bottom of any message with Replies
When that link is clicked, this message will appear
If they click on Yes
And that subscriber will not receive any more messages from that thread
There are no reporting options to see who is blocking what thread or author.
Anybody that clicks on either link is presented with a web page that asks, are they sure. If they click on the button to proceed, then that action is irreversable. They can use your web archives or our short term web archive to see any messages they might be missing.
What if the Thread Subject Line is used again ?
Actually, we are not paying attention to the Subject line, but rather a hidden header field in everybody's email.
This header is created by each subscriber's email reader, when they reply to a message. It contains the Message-Id of the message they are replying to.
The Message-Id field is a long unique identifier.
So if multiple people reply to a message, the In-Reply-To field is the same on each reply.
What if the Subject Line is changed when replying
The In-Reply-To header will take precedence over the Subject Line, and thus an email thread could have different Subject Lines.
The References header contains a list of Message-Ids, when their are Replies to Replies.
The Stop Thread information is deleted after 30 days
So if somebody replies to a message thread more than 30 days later, that message will not be stopped.
