How to know that your subscribers received your email

Email delivery can be haphazard, and sometimes you will want to know for sure that everybody on your list received your email.  Here's a better way of knowing than asking people to reply.

When you send a message to your list, there is no guarantee that all your subscribers will get your message.  For instance, their ISP could divert your message to the spam folder. Nor is there any guarantee that all your subscribers will read your message, even it if ends up in their email in-box.

If you want to know who is reading a particular email message, then you may ask your subscribers to click on a system generated URL in body of that email. When they do, their email address and the date and time of when they responded will be recorded in our system.

After a sufficient amount of time has passed to allow all your subscribers to respond, you can then ask our system for a list of who has and who has not acknowledged your request.

You must put this EXACT phrase in the body of your email message:

rollcall-link-here

Best to copy and paste that exact phrase to avoid any typos. And best to put it on a separate line, left justified, because it will expand into a long link.

This is how the email will look like to your subscribers:

The phrase rollcall-link-here is expanded to include their email address. Our system will wrap that link in angle brackets, so that email readers will not line wrap it. You might also tell them to copy and paste the link into their web browser, in case their email reader gives them any trouble with the long link.

Some email readers, like Windows Mail may display the long link in two lines instead of one:

If it displays the link in two lines, it can still be clicked or copied into a browser.

When they click on the link, they will be taken to a web page, thanking them for taking action.

A day or two later, send in the SHOWROLLCALL command to see who has, and who has not responded.

Each time you use rollcall feature, the system will wipe the rollcall log clean, and start counting subscriber's acknowledgment messages again.
