Help, I'm getting duplicate messages from the mailing list.

Your email address can only be on our mailing list one time. Our system will not allow two same email addresses on a mailing list.

The problem may occur for different reasons:

  • Synchronization with a SmartPhone, Tablet or other device.
  • Restoring Exchange public folders from backups.
  • Using Net Folders on your network.
  • Incorrect Outlook rules.
  • Many other possible reasons.

The most common reason for duplicates is due to the subscriber using Outlook and having a duplicate rule.

The second most common reason is the subscriber has two different email addresses on the mailing list. In that case, they receive every message twice......one sent to each address.

Problems with Microsoft Outlook:

1. Check the Rules and make sure that copies are not being made to the Inbox.

2. Check the Task Manager and make sure there is only one instance of Outlook running. Two instances of outlook.exe running can produce two messages arriving at the same time.

3. You may also delete/remove ALL your e-mail accounts and recreate them.

4. If you are running Outlook XP, be sure that you are at Service Pack 2 or later.

5. In the past, there was a known issue with Microsoft Outlook. When logging in to Microsoft Outlook by using a profile containing two Post Office Protocol (POP3) accounts, you may be prompted to provide a password for one of the accounts, and you may receive duplicate e-mail messages from the accounts. Check with Microsoft support for help.

If using Microsoft Outlook to read email, check your Rules and Alerts settings.

If you are using Microsoft Outlook as your email reader, check your filter (rules) settings. Here is an example:

In the above example, a Rule is setup so a copy of the message with the subject "Welcome to Microsoft Office Outlook 2003" goes to the Inbox, therefore creating a duplicate message.

If you have any such rule setup, highlight the rule and delete it.

Check the bottom of your email to see which address is subscribed.  If the duplicate email is going to two different email addresses, then unsubscribe one of them by clicking the link.
