Replies: Eliminate duplicate emails from Reply All.
How a Mailing List handles Reply and Reply All can be set in your account. For details on this setting, please see Replies: Control where Subscriber "Reply" goes by default.
Depending on this option, an Author receiving duplicate emails can be an issue.
This can happen when Reply is configured to send only to the Author of a message and not the entire List. If a message recipient instead chooses Reply All, their message is sent 1) directly to the Author and 2) a copy to the Mailing List address.
Our server then receives that reply, and forwards it to Mailing List members. The original Author then receives the reply message again from our server.
You can eliminate this duplicate email by following the steps below.
Use the web interface to change settings:
Log into your mail-list account at https://database.mail-list.com.
- Click Customize Your List.
- Click Miscellaneous Settings.
- Click Eliminate Duplicate Emails from Reply All.
- Select Suppress Duplicate.
- Click Save.
NOTE:
If the setting Have Replies Go Back to List by Default is set to Reply to List, then Eliminate Duplicate Emails From Reply All is grayed out. (shown below)
In this case, all replies automatically go to the List, so duplicate email is not an issue.
