HELP: How can I keep Subscribers from leaving the Mailing List?

"Participation in our Mailing List is mandatory, and I don't want anybody to leave.
How do I remove this link on the bottom of each email?"

U.S. Law Requires It

The CAN-SPAM Act of 2004 requires all Mailing Lists to have an easy-to-use method of unsubscribing.

Even if you (List Owner) do not live in the USA, Mail-List.com is based in the USA and is required to follow the law.

ISPs Prefer It

ISPs will degrade our delivery to your Subscriber's Inbox without a link to unsubscribe.

Some ISPs have a Report as Spam button that will also remove people from your List. So even without a link, people can get themselves removed.

For many reasons, we must keep the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email to your Mailing List.

For more information, see How does Report as Spam work?

What You Can Do

So, how do you work with our system and keep everybody happy?

Option 1

First of all, edit the link to unsubscribe. Remove the options to change address, switch to Digest or go on vacation.

For step-by-step instructions, see Subscription Management: Add link for Subscribers to use.

Option 2

Secondly, choose to receive an email notification when someone leaves your List. You can then take corrective action.

To use this option, see Receive a notification when someone unsubscribes.

Option 3

Lastly, change the text that appears above the unsubscribe link. This may help to deter Subscribers from clicking the link.

For instructions, see Unsubscribe Link: Change the text.
